Frequently Asked Questions

Not at all! OPS is designed for students who have never dealt with any sorts of embedded systems or hardware. We hope by the end of the program you will be able to say you know how all of these things work!

Unfortunately because of the high interest in the OPS program and the limited amounts of supplies we have, not all students who apply will be accepted. There will be 115 spots available for students in the program this year. Though, those not originally accepted will still be able to follow along on the Website!

There are a total of 9 projects for the program with 7 projects ranging from an LED lighting up to a weather station, 1 optional project which does not affect the deposit refund, and finally 1 capstone project of an RC Rover.

Upon completion of all 8 mandatory projects by the due dates, students will receive their $60 dollar deposit back. In addition, all students will be able to keep their box of parts!

The location and times of lectures will change every quarter as students’ and instructors’ schedule change. These dates and locations can all be found on the Canvas page and Website.

Yes you can! All the lecture slides will be posted on the Canvas page and the Website. In addition, we will try and record all the lectures we can.

Discord! All of the instructors will frequently check the OPS discord channel for any questions or comments from students. They will try and answer any questions they can virtually and give any guidance they can.

It depends. If students slowly work on their projects through the two weeks, it may only take them an hour or two each week. However, each project can take up to 6-8 hours if attempted in a single sitting.

Absolutely! Companies love when applicants already have practical hands-on experience as well as self-made projects!
